The account had been running ads for six weeks on a long-cycle asset sale. Week two they got impatient. "The ads aren't working." Week four they wanted to pull the budget. Week six they were ready to walk away. The ads were working. The buyer had visited the site three times, downloaded a resource, and opened two follow-up emails. Nobody was watching any of it.

ON THE PATH
A Long Sales Cycle Needs More Attention, Not Less.
Most sellers treat a long sales cycle as a reason to be patient. It isn't. It's a reason to pay closer attention to every signal between launch and close.
A buyer in a long cycle doesn't go quiet because they lost interest. They go quiet because nobody picked up the signal when they gave it. A site visit. A download. An email open. A second look at the listing. These aren't noise. They're the buyer telling you exactly where they are in the decision.
Launching ads is the start. What you do between launch and close is the strategy.
Interest has an expiration date. The signal doesn't wait for your follow-up schedule.
1. Map every touch point between launch and close. Site visits, downloads, email opens, listing views, direct inquiries. If you're not tracking these you're flying blind. The buyer is leaving signals at every step. You just need somewhere to watch them land.
2. Assign a response to each signal. A site visit gets a follow-up within 24 hours. A resource download gets a relevant touchpoint the same day. A second listing view gets a personal outreach. Each signal tells you where the buyer is. Your response keeps them moving.
3. Measure patience against signal activity, not time. A long sales cycle doesn't mean slow follow-up. It means sustained attention. Don't measure success by how long you've been running ads. Measure it by how many signals you caught and responded to. That's the real indicator of whether the path is working.
